Doc Holliday's Skeleton...

Doc Holliday's Skeleton Takes a Saint Patrick's Day Walk, Leadville, Colorado, 1887

Red Shuttleworth

First published by True West magazine in its online edition, this not-so-droll poem follows Doc Holliday, terminally, seriously ill with tuberculosis, on his rounds through Leadville, Colorado, in 1887. Doc is in search of the usual: a winning hand, a pretty lady, a respite from his "consumption." The odds are stacked against Doc, but he could care less.
